F.A.Q.

Why should I choose Ola?

First and foremost, we have a proven track record of helping create systems, tools, and models with small presses in mind. Our goal with Ola is to reduce clutter for editors, while allowing for clearer communication between publishers and authors, with a thoughtful user experience built around ensuring everyone’s on the same wavelength—from communicated expected response times, to offering powerful moderation tools to ensure you’re seeing only the most relevant submissions. We aim to offer a range of services, but most importantly, are committed to keeping the software feature-rich and affordable for all of your submission needs.

Is the feature set the same as Oleada?

While we took inspiration from Oleada (and other submission managers), Ola has been built entirely from scratch, and with a lot of new workflow options for publishers:

What about submission fees?

At present, we do not have an option to require submission fees, and we are still deciding how we might implement this in the future. We hope that our approach to software development eliminates at least some of the need to collect fees—affordable pricing, UX made to encourage thoughtful submissions—and we want to make sure that any potential submission fee structure serves both publishers and authors.
